Plenty happening as always;
Our inaugural season came to a close with a respectable 5th (of five) the final wash-up. With an average age above the half-century, the lads did a great job. They were up against young, energetic, fit 20 somethings who, on a 15 metre sloping deck, were pretty keen on checking out the bounce in the middle of the pitch along with some unorthodox actions.
At 56, Kanga was awarded Rookie of the year player at the recent Association Awards night. Not sure where it sits in his pantheon of awards but a fine achievement nonetheless. Needless to say his acceptance speech was comedy gold as always. Canitz showed he has lost none of his touch winning the best fielder/keeper award to add to his eight MCC fielding trophies.
I have attached some photos of the guys, resplendent in their Rooster colours, and if anyone else wants to get involved there is a new season starting up in September.
The fixtures are out and I have attached them for your consideration.
Don't forget the AGM is this Friday (20/7) upstairs at the Vale - 6.30 sharp start with finger food and a bar tab at the completion of formalities. Please try and get along if only to recognize the outstanding contributions of our three nominations for life membership - Mick Arbon, Adrian Preston and Peter Dickson.
Don't forget to diarise 2 February 2019 - the 160th Year celebration. A working group has already met with plenty of ideas on how we recognize our on-field success and contribution to the local community. It will be a great night. Thankfully all four teams play Oakleigh that day.
Until next time
